Mojacar (pueblo & beach) - white washed pueblo built on a mountainside & features
on many picture postcards. Scenic/panoranic views, art shops, small gift shops, cafe's & resturants. Narrow streets. Mojacar
beach is the area's main holiday resort with beach-front hotels. Cosmipolitan but much less brash than many other Spanish
holiday resorts. Good night-life, restaurants (all types), bars, shops, long sandy beaches.
Garrucha - typical Spanish resort with promenade facing towards the post. Fishing port and marina.
Fantastic locally caught fresh fish served at the many restaurants along the promenade. Small market every evening selling
art, jewellery etc.
Villaricos - small & quaint seaside resort, with two small marinas. A small lesser known heaven
nestled into the hillside. Lovely promenade links the two marinas. Good slection of restaurants & bars. Small outdoor
market on Sundays.
Palomares - small village with a couple of bars - very typically Spanish.
Cuvas de Almanzora - Larger town inland. Famour for it's caves that can be visited & explored.
Castle & museun situated at the top of a hill overlooking the town. Winding narrow streets with lots of cafe's etc.
Because of the varied landscape that changes from the wild and mountainous to the paradisiacal,
all within a few kilometres, the east coast of Almeria offers a wide variety of sports activities. Within close proximity
is the area's water park and go-karting at Garrucha. You can find horse riding excursions into the beautiflu surrounding mountains.
Sea enthusiasts can enjoy diving in the rich sea beds of the bays around the Cabo de Gata, water skiing, windsurfing
or boat trips on the Mediterranean from nearby Villaricos or Garrucha.
For those who prefer mountains, the area offers
many routes for walking or cycling and caves for underground exploration.
Natural spaces include the east coast of
Almeria with wild and mountainous landscapes and kilometres of sun-bathed beaches, giving the visitor uncountable routes for
enjoying close contact with nature.
The Cabo de Gata Natural Park is of great ecological interest, the park includes
some of the most beautiful coastlines on the Mediterranean, featuring cliffs and lonely bays, extensive beaches and reefs.
The Desierto de Tabernas Natural Park
is the only desert in Europe. The visitor can take 4x4 trips and visit
the old locations where numerous 'spaghetti westerns' were filmed in this location during the 1960s and which now forms a
theme park, re-creating the atmosphere of the Wild West.
